To Keep or Not To Keep Your Thoughts
I recently just got rid of a large majority of my clothes.
I took everything out of my closet and looked at each thing.
I had three questions for each article of clothing.
- Does it create feelings of happiness?
- Do I really want it?
- Is it current or outdated?
I had to really love it to keep it. It had to be something I would buy again today. I only wanted things in my closet that helped me feel my best and didn’t clutter my life.
I’m tired of being bogged down by things that are not necessary or useful.
It is so freeing to have only a few things remaining in my closet.
It is so freeing to only have the things that I love and want to wear.
Did you know you can do the exact same things with your thoughts?
I dare you to examine every thought you have. We often think that something is a fact, but in actuality, many, if not most of the things we think about, are merely thoughts. And all thoughts are optional.
We will do well to treat our thoughts like I have treated my closet full of clothes. It’s important to do a little tidying up at times. Ask yourself these three questions:
- Is this thought serving me in some way?
- Do I really want to think this?
- Is this thought current or outdated?
Really examine your thoughts. Keep only those that serve you. The rest, it is time to get rid of.
