What is your purpose?
What is your purpose? The answer to this question is highly sought after.
As humans we want to have purpose. We want to matter. We want to make a contribution.
Most of us spend so much time trying to decide what our purpose is for existing.
We want it to be something big and grand in order to count.
You ready to hear a secret? Your purpose, your reason for existence is existing. Your purpose is in your existence.
We all want to “Become” what our Heavenly Parents want us to become. But guess what? You have already become what They want you to become. Nothing you do here on the earth will make you any more valuable. PERIOD!
Our value is in being human. PERIOD!
In the words of one of my teachers, “You are already enough and completely complete.”
“Your purpose for existing is existing.”
“How you want to spend your time existing is your choice.”
“You simply decide.”
Want to hear another secret? Your life will NEVER be more valuable then someone else’s. And since that is true, the opposite is true: Your life will NEVER be less valuable then someone else’s.
Everything else you do beyond existing and being human is just a bonus. And you get to decide what those things are. You get to decide what else you want your purpose to be. But don’t forget, you don’t have to do anything to be more worthy.
There is this misconception that once you realize that no one can be better then you and you can’t do anything that will make you better then anyone else, that we twill just become lazy. But just the opposite is true. Our true individual potential opens before our eyes when we stop comparing.
I think it is important to create a sentence that defines YOUR purpose. A sentence that defines how you want to spend your time existing.
Here are some examples:
I want to love.
I want to be a creator.
I want to be famous.
I want to be a loving wife.
I want to be a peaceful mom.
I want to help end violence in my town.
I want to be a minister.
I have pondered what I want my sentence to be for quite some time. I have decided that my sentence is: I want to be an interrupter of darkness.
Your turn. What’s your purpose statement?
Once you know what it is, let it guide you. By doing small and simple things each day, being guided by your purpose statement, great things will come to pass.
It’s like putting money into your savings account. The interest will compound and over a long period of time, you will have more money then you ever imagined.
What small and simple things will you do everyday that will compound into great things?
Imagine what you can do with your existance!
