Look forward and not back
I am the oldest of 7 children…six girls and one boy.
I feel blessed everyday for them.
Yesterday one of my sisters sent us a link to a talk that she loves.
It was an old talk given by Elder Holland at a BYU devotional called, “Remember Lots wife”. Here is the link.
I am not going to go into much of what he said other then that one statement…Remember Lot’s wife.
The scriptures tell us that Lot and his family were told to leave Sodom because it was going to be destroyed. As they were leaving the town, his wife looked back. When she did, she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26).
There are many lessons we can learn from Lot’s wife. This is one of my take aways.
As humans, we are here on earth for an earthly experience! We are here to BECOME! What that BECOME looks like is going to be different for all of us.
But there is one thing I can promise you, there will be pain and discomfort as we try and evolve ourselves to that better version of our current selves.
We have to put our faith in whatever higher power we believe in. I personally believe that we have a loving Heavenly Father who wants me to have joy and knows far better then I do how I will find joy.
I just have to put my trust in Him.
As we walk forward in our lives, we tend to look to our past to give us evidence of what we can and cannot do!
Our past holds us back.
I was never able to accomplish that before…so why should I be able to now? (insert whatever your goals have been 🙂
When we look to our past to prove what we can do, we will always fail.
We will always become a pillar of salt. We will never progress.
BECOMING means we look to the future to achieve our goals.
We look to the possibilities and not let it be optional to achieve.
It means that we set a goal and every time your brain says, “you failed at that last time”, you remind yourself, “I know, but that was exactly what I was supposed to do. Today is a different day. Today I am a different person. I love you brain for trying to protect me. But guess what, I am believing something different now.”
You may think I’m crazy, but I promise this is the first step to success.
Pillar of salt or BECOMING a more amazing version of the already magnificent you!
You get to decide.
